The Gem Society
Karen J. Adler, certified gemologist and Steven Adler, owners of Gems of the Past recently attended the American Gem Society's annual membership meeting, featuring four days of educational sessions and a fashion show produced by Vogue magazine. Nearly 700 American Gem Society members were in attendance. Gems of the Past, located on Newtown Lane in East Hampton, is recognized locally for its diverse selection of fine jewelry and fine diamonds, as well as its knowledgeable staff.

Karen Rodriguez Employee Of The Quarter
Southampton Hospital named Karen Rodriguez, a certified mammographer, the hospital's employee of the quarter for the first quarter of 2006. Rodriguez, a resident of East Hampton, splits her time between Southampton Hospital and the Hospital's East Hampton radiology facility, and has worked at the hospital since 2002.
Rodriguez is very involved in her sons' Michael and Andrew's sports — especially baseball, and is active in the East Hampton School District. She also volunteers for the South Fork Breast Health Coalition.
