Veterans To Discuss Peaceable Options For Iraq
Congressman Tim Bishop and four war veterans running as Congressional candidates will speak about the war in Iraq and offer peaceable solutions to the conflict on Sunday in Southampton.
The speakers will be Mishonda Baldwin, of Maryland's 3rd District, a decorated Desert Storm Veteran; Bob Johnson, of New York's 23rd Congressional District, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Medical Corp; Eric Massa, of New York's 29th Congressional District, who served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years with tours of duty during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and Desert Storm; and Rich Sexton, of New Jersey's Congressional District in Ocean and Camden counties, a retired naval Lieutenant-Commander who served in the Pacific, Indian Ocean and Northern Arabia during WWII.
The event will take place at One Source Tool Warehouse, 341 County Road 39, (1/8 mile west of the Omni), from 1-4 p.m. A picnic lunch will be served at 1 p.m., followed by speeches at 2. There will be music by bluegrass band Minetta Creek.
The suggested donation is $100 per person. Checks should be made payable to VFP/SH Dem. Comm. and addressed to P.O. Box 1315, Water Mill, NY 11976. The event is sponsored by Voices for Peace, East End Veterans, the Southampton Democratic Committee and the East Hampton Democratic Committee, with support from the North Fork People of Conscience.
