East Hampton

Today:

• Ric Keeley will present "Seasonal Soups" at the Ross School in East Hampton from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Students will build upon the stocks with fresh seasonal vegetables to create some easy and elegant soups. Keeley is in his second year as chef at the Ross School. Cost: $40. Call 907-5555.

• The Southampton Trails Preservation Society will host a Tuckahoe Swamp Adventure from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Hike one and a half miles through marsh lands and woods. Meet on Millstone Brook Road (opposite Millstone Lane). Moderate pace. Call 283-3759.

• The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons will present its Cat Adoptathon at the pet friendly Southampton Inn on Hill Street in Southampton Village from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All cats and kittens are up to date on shots, as well as being neutered and litter trained. • Poet Harvey Shapiro will read from his latest collection of poetry at Canio's Books on Main Street in Sag Harbor: Sights Along the Harbor: New and Collected Poems, recently published by Wesleyan University Press.

• A Traditional New England Barn Dance, presented by The Long Island Traditional Music Association, will be held at the Community Center in Water Mill. An introductory lesson will be held at 7:45 p.m. and dancing to live music will happen from 8 to 11 p.m. Each dance will be taught. No partner needed; beginners welcome. Sunday:

• The Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will host a Rabies Vaccination Clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Southampton Animal Shelter. On March 16, the Suffolk County Department of Health reported the County's first case of terrestrial animal rabies in a raccoon recovered from a backyard in the Town of Huntington. So bring your pets to the clinic to protect them from this deadly disease.

• Meet at the entrance of the Quogue Wildlife Center on Old Country Road at 10 a.m. for a wildlife walk. Moderate two-mile hike. Call 283-5432.

• Fire Chief John Healey will be at the Children's Museum of the East End from 2 to 3 p.m. for five to 12-year olds. Kids can have the chance to board a real fire truck and learn about fire safety. Free with admission. Also from 2 to 3 at CMEE, local artist Amelia Marques will teach children ages seven to 11 special painting techniques. Today:

Saturday:

• The Riverhead High School NJROTC Pancake Breakfast will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Riverhead Moose Lodge, 51 Madison Avenue. Tickets ($6 for kids and $8 for adults) for the breakfast include pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, and beverages. The Easter Bunny will be on hand and there will be crafts for the kiddies.
