The East Hampton Lady Bonackers are positioned perfectly for a playoff berth after a convincing 64-51 win over Miller Place at home Friday. Kaelyn Ward, who recently went over the 1000-point mark for her career, led the winners with 18 points. Emma Newberger and Carley Seekamp contributed 12 each; the win gave the locals a 5-3 League VI mark (7-4 overall), good for fourth place.
Elwood/Glenn comes in for a 6:45 game tomorrow. On Tuesday the locals play at Amityville.
Southampton keeps rolling in League VII. The Lady Mariners moved to 8-0 on the season (10-3 overall) by besting Babylon at home Friday, 63-45. Paris Hodges, a senior who went over the 1000-point career mark recently, scored 18 points, had 11 rebounds, dished out for four scores, and recorded six steals.
Kesi Goree, who also has scored over 1000 points in her storied career, tallied 14 points and grabbed six boards. Sydney Katz scored 13 and also had seven rebounds.
Pierson/Bridgehampton dropped to 5-3 in League VIII (7-7 overall) Friday, falling to Port Jefferson at home 39-36. Kasey Gilbride scored nine points in a losing effort. Southold/Pierson comes to town tomorrow.
Riverhead is hanging tough in League III behind undefeated North Babylon. Last Thursday the Wave, playing at home, bested East Islip 49-38 behind the sparking play of Naysha Trent, who had 16 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists. Shanice Allen scored 14 and recorded five steals, and Dezare Brown grabbed 10 boards.
Smithtown East comes to Riverhead tomorrow for a 5:45 affair; the Wave travel to Smithtown West Tuesday.
