Water II

The Tulla Booth Gallery in Sag Harbor presents "Water II," a photography exhibit with artists Stephen Wilkes, Daniel Jones, Herb Friedman, and Blair Seagram. The show opens with a reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 PM and runs through November 30.

Riverhead Town

The Suffolk County Historical Society in Riverhead presents an opening reception for "Riverhead Town 225th Anniversary Exhibition" on Saturday at 1 PM. Join for a celebratory exhibit, located in the Weathervane Gallery, that will display historic photographs, documents, and artifacts depicting Riverhead's past from the collection of the Suffolk County Historical Society. There will also be the exhibit, "Line Drawings of Riverhead's Notable Landmarks," featuring drawings of historic structures depicting the diversity and beauty of Riverhead, in the Gish Gallery.


Lagache At Christy's

Christy's Art Center in Sag Harbor presents Evan Sebastian Lagache with "Abpsyche," a new exploration of abstract expressionism.

While exploring the idea of gravity and motion, abstract and form through painting, this exhibition unveils new titles and techniques. Featured are abstract expressionistic swirling color pools and perfectly-timed drip grids. The exhibit is on view through Tuesday.

Also at Christy's, an exhibition of newly presented photographs by Bert Stern of modern icons including Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Marilyn Monroe, Kate Moss, Ray Charles, and more. The show runs through November 8.

Live Graffiti

White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton hosts "Up from the Underground," a graffiti exhibit, on view through October 22. It features internationally-renowned artists VP Dedaj aka VIC 161 and Domenick S. Vetro aka TAG. For this exhibit they present art from the '80s through 2017.

Group Show

Romany Kramoris Gallery in Sag Harbor presents a group art show featuring the work of Lianne Alcon, Joyce Brian, Muriel Hanson Falborn, and Sonia Grineva. The exhibit will be on display through October 19.

Alcon is an expressionistic painter who paints images viewed by an experienced, discerning eye for the essential. Brian is an accomplished artist and teacher. Her inspirations come from the landscapes and light of Italy as well as from the eastern end of Long Island. Falborn, artist and landscape designer, has seen hundreds of gardens, parks, and homes whose scenes have inspired her. Grineva is an internationally distinguished plein air painter who has traveled extensively and drawn inspiration for her art from many of the world's iconic sites.

ODD Beauty

"Odd Beauty: The Techno-Eccentric World of Steampunk" is on view at the Southampton Arts Center through November 12. Touted as the most ambitious international Sseampunk exhibition in years, the show features works by renowned steampunk artists such as Sam Van Olffen, Paige Gardner, Tom Banwell, and many more.

Astronomy Art Exhibition

The Astronomy Art Exhibition is on display at Custer Observatory in Southold. The exhibition features original works by artists Nick Cordone, Cynthia Padgett, and Randall DiGiuseppe, inspired by the night sky. The exhibit will run through November 5. 

Beauty and the Beast

The Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum presents Cindy Pease Roe's "Beauty and the Beast." The show is designed to enlighten, delight, and engage people through Roe's paintings and sculptures that celebrate the beauty of the ocean and the beast, marine plastic litter. The show runs through October 31.

Sacred Rivers

Stephanie Joyce, Susan Newbold, and Heidi Lewis Coleman will be exhibiting their collaborative "Sacred Rivers," ink on mylar with metal leaf paintings, through November 25 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the South Fork in Bridgehampton.

Restorative Nature

"Restorative Nature," paintings and sculpture by Gina Gilmour, will be on display at Suffolk County Community College through October 24. The show is an exhibit of paintings and sculpture ranging from small ceramics to paintings up to six feet high. View her works in the Lyceum Gallery, in the Montaukett Learning Resource Center on the Eastern Campus of SCCC in Riverhead. 

Rental Gallery

Rental Gallery in East Hampton presents Geoff McFetridge's "Test for Positive Thinking" and Elsa Hansen Oldham's "New Work." The show will run through October 31. For more info visit rentalgallery.us.

The Drawing Room in East Hampton presents the exhibition Mary Ellen Bartley's "Reading Grey Gardens." The show runs through Sunday.

Lens To Eye To Hand

The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill presents "From Lens to Eye to Hand: Photorealism 1969 to Today," a survey of an important contemporary art movement spearheaded by artists who employed a groundbreaking creative process to embark upon a new way of seeing and depicting the world. On view through Sunday, the exhibition features 73 paintings and works on paper by 35 artists.

Annie Cooper Boyd

The Sag Harbor Historical Society presents the exhibition "Across Time -- Contemporary Reflections on the Life and Art of Annie Cooper Boyd" at the Sag Harbor Historical Society and the John Jermain Memorial Library. The show will run through Sunday.

Suffolk Historical Society

The Suffolk County Historical Society presents "Over Here, Over There: Long Island & the Great War." Commemorating the centennial of America's entry into the First World War, the exhibition features rare artifacts, maps, photographs, weaponry, posters, and more, depicting Long Islanders' experiences during the First World War. Curated by Richard F. Welch, this exhibit will be on display in the Grand Staas Gallery until January 2018.
