On Saturday I visited Andre Balazs' Sunset Beach on Shelter Island with a group of friends for a relaxing afternoon lunch.

During the afternoon we dined on the restaurant's French fare. A favorite appetizer was the artichokes frites, long stemmed crispy fried artichokes with aioli.
The moules marinieres with white wine, confit garlic and frites obligatoires was a perfect pairing to go with the beach front setting. The Sunset Beach cheeseburger was a favorite of many, it came with gruyere, frites and cornichons. The paillard de poulet with green salad was cooked perfectly and delicious.
After lunch we sipped cocktails like the rose sangria, while enjoying a game of pingpong on the back patio.
