Harbor Gala Fundraiser

Greater East Hampton Education Foundation presents its annual Sunset over the Harbor Gala Fundraiser at East Hampton Point on Friday from 6:30 to 10:30 PM. This fundraising event will offer hors d'oeuvres, full dinner buffet, cash bar, dancing with DJ, Chinese and silent auctions. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased by calling 631-605-5125. Apron Strings Project

The Apron Strings Project will take place Friday through Sunday at the Vail-Leavitt Music Hall in Riverhead.

The Apron Strings Project is inspired by an exhibit of more than 200 aprons that was featured at the Suffolk County Historical Society. The show is billed as a theatrical celebration of women told through the creative contributions of writers, musicians, actors and other artists.

The performances will benefit the Vail-Leavitt Music Hall and The Retreat, a women's shelter and domestic violence support organization in East Hampton.

Run for the Roses

Southampton Youth Services hosts its inaugural Spring Bash "Run for the Roses" at 5 PM on Saturday. It's a Kentucky Derby Celebration with food, mint juleps, dancing and horse racing. At the town Rec Center on Majors Path. $125. Call 631-287-1511 for tickets. 

ARF's 40th Anniversary

ARF's 40th Anniversary Celebration will take place at the Adoption Center on Saturday from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Enjoy a morning of games, contests and delicious treats. The morning includes dog agility and obedience competitions, music by Sandy Rapp, free microchipping and rabies vaccines and a Freshpet Tasting Station. Guests will also enjoy a 40th Anniversary Cake, Hampton Coffee Company coffee, Rolling in Dough Pizza Truck and watermelon. The morning will conclude with a brief Annual Meeting, including an awards ceremony, election of board members, and proclamations by elected officials. RSVP to tdix@arfhamptons.org.

Dance Is Now

"Dance Is Now," a fundraising performance and reception to benefit Southampton Cultural Center, will take place at Levitas Center for the Arts at Southampton Cultural Center on Saturday from 6 to 8 PM. Tickets are $45. Visit www.scc-arts.org.

Hampton Abbey

Get out your "Downton Abbey" best to wear at a traditional high tea on Saturday, May 10, just in time for Mother's Day. For one afternoon, St. Mary's, in Hampton Bays, becomes "Hampton Abbey," where tea will be served in an appropriately elegant setting, the oak-paneled Fireside Room of this picturesque, Norman-style church on Ponquogue Avenue. The high tea will include all the trappings: finger sandwiches, petit fours, scones, and a choice of Earl Grey or Darjeeling tea. Paws & Reflect

"Paws & Reflect" An Animal Art Show to benefit the Southampton Animal Shelter will take place at the Richard J. Demato Fine Arts Gallery in Sag Harbor. A reception will be held on May 10 from 6 to 8 PM. The show features Animal Art by local well known artists. A percentage of the proceeds of all sales will go to help the homeless pets. The event is free and the show runs through May 29.  

An Evening of Comedy

On May 16 from 7 to 11 PM Kent Animal Shelter presents "An Evening of Comedy" at Hotel Indigo in Riverhead to raise money for homeless pets. The event includes comedy by Laughter Saves Lives, hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, Chinese auction, raffle, pet boutique, a scavenger hunt, and more. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. Spring Fling

Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center will hosts a Spring Fling on May 16 from 6 to 8 PM. There will be light bites, cocktails and musical performances at the Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard.
