Jazz Age

Jazz Age East Hampton (1919-1933): Clothes, Clubs & Contraband opens at the Clinton Academy Museum on Saturday. The East Hampton Historical Society has sourced over 80 images of life during America's "last fling" – from the local gentry to the famous folks that had already begun embracing the East End. 

In addition to photographs, they will create vignettes of period fashion, decorative arts and even display a 70 year old contraband bottle of liquor. A special section will be devoted to the Ladies Village Improvement Society (LVIS) Fair and the Maidstone Club. The exhibit will run through October 13. A special curator's tour by Director Richard Barons takes place August 17 at 10 AM.

Homeland

"Homeland" a solo show for Frank Orit opens at the Richard J. Demato Fine Arts Gallery in Sag Harbor on Saturday. For more info visit www.rjdgallery.com.

Alice Aycock

The Drawing Room in East Hampton presents Alice Aycock, works on paper. The show will be on view through August 12.

Art On The Edge

Art On The Edge 2013, an annual survey of New Contemporary Art featuring the most provocative new paintings, sculptors and photographers working in their respective mediums, opens at Vered Gallery in East Hampton. The exhibit continues through August 5.

Halsey Mckay Gallery

The Halsey Mckay Gallery in East Hampton presents Patrick Brennan and Brie Ruais. The show runs through July 31.

Holland B. Cunningham

Recent work by Holland B. Cunningham, an American artist who works in oil, water-based media, photography as well as animation, will exhibit at Art Gallery at the Quogue Library. The show is on display today through Monday.

John Alexander

Guild Hall in East Hampton presents John Alexander, a visionary artist whose paintings, watercolors, drawings and prints most often contain representational imagery that have surreal elements incorporated into their multi-layered narratives. The show runs through Sunday. Visit www.guildhall.org.

Artists & Writers

East Hampton's beloved Artists & Writers Softball Game will take to the field for its 65th annual game on August 17. In celebration, the Museum at Guild Hall opens "Artists & Writers: They Played in the Game." The exhibition features many works from Guild Hall's permanent collection of artists who have played in the game, along with works that are on loan. The show runs through Sunday. Joel Perlman

Guild Hall in East Hampton presents Joel Perlman's sculptures, on display in the Frieda and Roy Furman Sculpture Garden. The scupltures will remain on display through October. Visit www.guildhall.org.

Extraordinarily Ordinary!

"Extraordinarily Ordinary!" photography by Mallory Samson is on display at the Southampton Historical Museum. The exhibit remains on view through August 2. Visit www.southamptonhistoricalmuseum.org.

Herman N. Hyneman

The Southold Historical Society will host an exhibition of paintings by noted 19th century New York City painter Herman N. Hyneman (1849-1907). The exhibit, entitled "Herman N. Hyneman: A Jewish Artist Rediscovered," will be on display in the Cosden-Price Gallery in the Society's Reichert Family Center in Southold through September 21.

Alex Ferrone

Rosalie Dimon Gallery in Jamesport summer exhibit opens with artist Alex Ferrone. The show runs through August 2.
